The next Old Drogheda Society Walk n Talk will take place on Wednesday June 27 th beginning at
7.30pm at the Bullring/Scotch Hall area of Drogheda, Community Historian Brendan Matthews will
lead on the evening presenting the tale of the origins of Scotch Hall and the factories, businesses and
premises that flourished here from the later18th century. The Walk n Talk will then proceed down
the old Marsh Road district where Brendan will speak about the area of St. James, the Carmelite
Friary, and the mid 19 th century Fever Hospital.
The Tour will then pass the famine era Poor-House Lane and the former site of St. James`s Dock Yard
and a real hidden gem of Drogheda that is Ship Street where Brendan will speak about the origins of
the houses here. The Walk n Talk will terminate at the Railway Viaduct on the Marsh Road where
people can obtain a real close-up view of this magnificent mid 19 th engineering marvel.
The Walk n Talk will begin at 7.30pm in the vicinity of the Joey Maher and Socks Byrne memorial statues at
Scotch Hall next to the Bullring and all are welcome to attend on the evening.
